Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
What you should know about it.
Your body learns to heal itself
In hyperbaric oxygen therapy (or hyperbaric oxygenation = HBO), we use oxygen as a drug in a targeted hyperbaric treatment. Your diseased or impaired body cells are optimally supplied with oxygen through this therapeutic with oxygen – and can regenerate again. In this way, your body’s healing processes are restarted in a completely natural way.
The increased oxygen concentration in the blood also has an antibacterial effect and detoxifies the body tissue. No other medication or therapy offers these effects.
Promote the regeneration of your body
The gentle alternative:
Versatile and sustainable
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is of great benefit wherever oxygen is consumed due to the metabolism, where oxygen is consumed metabolically and is lacking during regeneration and healing. That is why we can use this therapy at the HBO Center Munich effectively for a wide range of both acute, as well as chronic diseases.
The course of your HBO treatment
Preparation:
Your treatment at our HBO center is usually carried out on an outpatient basis. You will be thoroughly examinedbefore treatment begins. An ECG, a lung function test and other physical examinations , we determine your so-called ” fitness for pressure”. Before we start, a clarifying consultation with your doctor – about the procedure about the procedure and the possible side effects of the therapy.
The duration of treatment and number of sessions depend on your clinical picture. HBO therapy is often carried out on several consecutive days in our practice.
You take a seat in the pressure chamber together with other patients. The pressure in the chamber is slowly increased. You have sufficient time, so that your ears can also adapt to the changed pressure conditions. You will be accompanied by our trained specialists.
Once the prescribed pressure has been reached, all patients put on their oxygen masks. They breathe in pure oxygen – interrupted by short breaks. In the meantime, you can relax and read or listen to music. Individual patient monitoring (blood pressure, ECG, respiration) accompanies your treatment. Voice and visual communication with the outside world ensure that you can contact the doctor at any time.
If you want to stop the treatment, you can leave the pressure chamber via an airlock in just a few seconds, without disturbing the patients being treated.
At the end of the treatment , the air pressure is gradually reduced to normal ambient pressure and you can leave the hyperbaric chamber.
Conclusion:
Once you have completed all planned treatment appointments, there will be a final consultation between you and your doctor. The success of the treatment will be analyzed and any recommended further treatment steps will be discussed.
